The Benefits Of Slowing Down A Dog’s Training

I have written a post, or many posts, discussing the benefits of calming down for both the dog and the human when training. This post is similar in that I am suggesting the benefits of reducing something, only this time it is the speed of doing things. This past weekend we were at a dog… Read More The Benefits Of Slowing Down A Dog’s Training

How To Become The Person Your Dog Thinks You Are

Some of you may know that I am actually a “professional dog trainer” — which means that I train dogs. I am also a dog training instructor and I instruct online. I used to be an in-person dog training instructor, but I stopped doing that because I wanted to focus on improving my own skills as a… Read More How To Become The Person Your Dog Thinks You Are

Stop Saying “Treat” Training Doesn’t Work

In the past, I have been asked by experienced dog people (former breeders in one specific case) if I am one of those “treat, treat, treat” trainers. Of course, this started a “discussion” on training methods. I am always astonished at people’s beliefs in all the myths about dogs there are and what people are… Read More Stop Saying “Treat” Training Doesn’t Work

About This Blog

My dogs were listed as #42 on the dog breed intelligence list. Not accurate in my experience with my own dogs and my client’s dogs.

So I set out to find why this was and dispel the myths around training certain dog breeds. I changed my attitude and my training method and life with dogs became more fun.
