Please Calm Down (When Training Your Dog)

When I started training my first dog (my own) in 1999, I had no idea what I was doing. I knew I wanted a dog in my life but how to modify so-called “bad” behaviour was something of which I was completely ignorant. I started out by getting angry at the dog for behaviour I… Read More Please Calm Down (When Training Your Dog)

Getting Dog Show Prepared

A few years ago we bought a travel trailer so that we could take all the dogs to shows and stay at the show grounds without having to leave… Read More Getting Dog Show Prepared

How To Prevent Mistakes When You Train Your Dog

Training dogs is partly science and partly an art. The science part is something you can learn by reading books on training and by practicing in real life with a dog. Training as an art happens once you learn how to do the technical part, which is then when you can, if you wish and… Read More How To Prevent Mistakes When You Train Your Dog

About This Blog

My dogs were listed as #42 on the dog breed intelligence list. Not accurate in my experience with my own dogs and my client’s dogs.

So I set out to find why this was and dispel the myths around training certain dog breeds. I changed my attitude and my training method and life with dogs became more fun.

Ira worked on a higher perch today doing side-stepping. A little more wobbly for him but it was no problem. #caninefitness #kuvasz
JoJo and I are working on stretches for heeling. Dogs are athletes so we need to treat them as such. We're taking a course on conditioning for competition heeling from Fenzi Dog Sports Academy.
Ira is doing #parkour now. He likes the table because he can see over the fence better 😆 #dogparkour #kuvasz
